"And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest."   Ps 55:6

Doves have been around since creation.  Doves are referenced approximately fifty times in the Bible.  In Genesis 8:8-12, they were used by Noah on the Ark to search for dry land.  They have been used throughout history in World War I and World War II to photograph the enemy.  Despite all of our modern advances in science, no one can really say exactly how homing pigeons (rock doves) know how to fly home.  Certainly the ability to do this is inherited, but there is a large component of learning that is involved.  The theory is that pigeons possess a magnetic substance called magnetite in their brains.  It is suspected that pigeons can detect the Earth's magnetic lines of force to aid in their navigation.  This would be similar to using a compass to aid you on a journey.  There has been a great deal of discussion and many experiments, but in the end we really have no idea how the pigeon homes... but if you release it 500 miles from home is will be back in the loft by nightfall.  Amazing!  But fact is God created them that way.

The doves we use in the releases are white rock doves with dark eyes.  Doves mate for life, so releasing beautiful pure White Doves as part of a Wedding Ceremony is a visual and physical promise of fidelity, made by the bride and groom, promising they will be faithful to each other, as are Doves, "until death do us part".  The White is a color of purity and the White Doves symbolizes the bride and groom are, and will be pure to each other, "from this day forward".  The White Doves flying home together symbolizes a new beginning.  Heaven's White Doves silhouetted against the sky will make the union of the bride and groom a memorable event.

A graveside service with a Heaven's White Doves release is a remembrance of love given and received, as well as blessings shared by family and friends.  A group of doves are released and then a single dove is released to join their family as a symbol of soaring to the Heavens to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
